Kitchen Trends for 2027
Cool greys and all-white kitchens are giving way to warmth, natural materials and spaces that work harder. Look out for rich stained oak and walnut, two-tone kitchens, hidden pantries and breakfast cupboards, fluted panels and zellige tiles, and slimmer shaker and in-frame doors. Here are the trends designers expect for 2027, with our advice on making them last.
ZONED LAYOUTS & SMARTER ISLANDS
Zoned, semi-open layouts: open-plan living is evolving. Kitchen, dining and living areas stay connected but feel distinct, using a change of flooring, a step, glazed doors or a partial wall.

Islands that work harder: two-level islands combine a prep area with a raised breakfast bar, and islands are gaining deep drawers, open shelving and storage on the seating side.

Our tip: whatever the layout, keep the sink, hob and fridge within easy reach of each other.

LAYERED LIGHTING & BRASS
Task, ambient and accent lighting are being planned together, with warm brass and nickel handles and fittings to finish the look. Under-cabinet strips light your worktops, ceiling lights set the mood, and plinth or shelf lights add a soft glow in the evening.

Our tip: plan lighting before plastering, so the wiring is hidden neatly.
WARM COLOURS & RICH WOOD
Warm, nature-led colours: earthy greens such as sage, olive and moss are leading the way, alongside mushroom, clay and chocolate brown. Deeper shades like berry and aubergine work well on a single feature, such as an island or pantry door.

Rich wood and two-tone kitchens: stained oak and walnut are replacing pale Scandinavian timber. A popular look pairs a wooden island with painted units around the room.

Our tip: test paint samples at different times of day, as warm colours shift with the light. Like what you see? Book a free design appointment and we'll help you bring these ideas into a kitchen that suits your home.
